Fall Project

During writing we wrote books "How to Carve a Pumpkin" (I wish I had taken pictures!) Then we followed our own steps...

We found some treasures inside, like this new pumpkin plant!  We had learned about the pumpkin life cycle and how plants change as they grow, so this was especially exciting.

Before we took the top off of the pumpkin we took guesses on how many seeds were inside.  After cleaning the seeds, I showed them to the class and they adjusted their guesses and made estimates  based on what they could see.  We worked together to put them in groups of 10.  We counted 406 pumpkin seeds!

The next week we took a walk around the school and used our senses to describe Fall.

Before we carved our pumpkin, we drew it and then used water color.
Using the information from the 5 senses chart, we wrote thank you letters to fall.

We made fall trees using shapes as leaves, then did a graphing activity.
