Life Science
What is making holes in the leaves?  How can we help?
Students offered their ideas: spiders, snakes, slugs, ants, caterpillars, worms, rain, a dog, etc.  We researched and concluded that it is likely caterpillars or slugs.  Students planned and designed ways to keep them away from the plants.

Our Field Trip to Luscher Farm supported our science lessons perfectly.  We observed earthworms in action and learned more about pollination.  We also learned that marigolds will sometimes distract slugs from eating other plants like lettuce.

In the spring we learned more about word choice and how to use a variety of words in our writing.  I like to introduce this in a couple of ways, one being through poetry and art (final sun art and writing pictures are coming).

While learning about the sun we went outside in the morning while the shadows were still long and did some shadow tracing.
