Clothing Drive
In December we began collecting clothes for The Beaverton Clothes Closet.  They provide clothing to kids in our district who are in need.  We collected a ton of great stuff.  We sorted and delivered the clothing in person and got a tour.  It was a fun, meaningful thing for our class to do.

We've been busy this winter learning about our world through a Me on the Map project.  Within the unit we have learned what makes a community successful.  Integrating this unit with math, writing, social studies, and reading, we created our own community.

Art, Art, and more Art

I really love and appreciate art of all kinds and I think it is important to make it a regular part of the kids' school experience.  Creating art is a way to become centered and focused.  We experiment a lot with color...

This was the background to a portrait drawing we did of Martin Luther King Jr.

This next project is made by covering a folded napkin with liquid water color, letting it dry, and opening it up.  We framed them and hung them in the window.

And sometimes a little painting turns into a dance party...

  Opinion Writing

We've been learning the difference between facts and opinions and have been practicing stating our opinions about different things like the best color, best food, best pet, etc.  More pictures coming next week.
